A Lost Generation AU
Introduction
The Lost Generation. They're young, they're restless, they're rolling through days and nights in a Europe that has changed, ever since the War put an end to an era of innocence, beauty and revolutions. The twenties are roaring, and so is the auto-mobile, the telegraph, the radio and the sound of jazz music that makes the bright young people dance to forget about a world that is about to go out in flames. They are writing, letters across cities and oceans, weaving stories of paper and pen, of ink and typewriters, electric signals twirling over the globe. This is their story, their words, their generation getting lost in a windwhirl of bubbly expensive champagne in the streets of Paris, in large mansions and shattered remnants of the American dream in New York, in the busy cabarets of the decadent Berlin and in the balls of London, that still stands proud as its Empire slowly falls apart.
So, how does this work exactly?
Well, I've been meaning to try something a bit different than the usual 3rd person style I use when I write most of the time. So here's the concept.
This is a RP where, instead of present actions, everything is narrated through letters, journal entries, notes and the likes. Basically, you write as your character(s) a bit like if this thread was some sort of clip board about that person's life. (Think about the kind of things you'd have in epistolary novels or graphic novels that sometimes have all sorts of extra content.) Keep in mind that this is set in the 1920s, so obviously no internet, televisions or anything of the sort, but you can get creative if you'd like to. (I really like the idea of having telegrams nudged into this, or journal articles with pictures if you're motivated!)
If you have any questions, don't be shy and shoot me a PM about it!
Rules
+ I don't mind OCs, Nyos or 2Ps, but I'd rather have no Dark/Snapped!Characters. It doesn't mean you can't make your character mean or violent at times, but just don't have any ax-crazy behaviour in the RP.
+ Please try to have decent grammar/spelling. I don't mind a few mistakes, everyone makes them and I'm one of those awful ESL people that sometimes gets mixed up with English's weird rules, but it'd be nice if everyone put a bit of effort into this.
+ Depending on the format you want to use, you might end up writing longer or shorter entries. This is normal. Letters are going to be longer than notes, journal entries longer than telegrams. However, the strict minimum for a post is at least eight sentences, so we all have something to work with in here.
+ I'd like to have OOC chat kept to a minimum, given that this is a forum and that PMs are much more practical to discuss plots and the likes than including OOC into actual posts.
+ You can play as many characters as you wish, but please respect the taken list that will be updated here. To claim a character, no need to write down a character sheet, all you have to do is post once IC, be it to present him or reply to someone who's already in the RP.
